VERSE:
Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
— Matthew 22:29
THOUGHT:
There is a certain segment of the body of Christ that is very well versed in the exposition of scripture. They know the doctrines of salvation and can quote dozens of scriptures by memory. They KNOW the bible. However, they have very little understanding of the power of God outside of the work of salvation. They have almost no consideration of the moving of the Holy Spirit.
On the other hand, there is another segment of the body of Christ that can speak in tongues, prophesy, and do back flips “in the spirit”, but have absolutely no understanding of the scriptures. They are biblically ignorant. Both sides of the road are ditches of error that you don’t want to be in.
APPLICATION:
Study the scriptures. Know what the word of God says, but don’t let it be merely an intellectual experience. Be open to the move and the power of the Holy Spirit. Cultivate a balance between knowledge, and the power of God.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, please give me a healthy balance between knowledge of your Word, and a manifestation of the power of your Spirit. Don’t let me fall into the error of biblical ignorance, or ignorance of your power. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
