VERSE:
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
— Matthew 5:9
THOUGHT:
If you live life in obedience to the word of God, conflict, confrontation and opposition are inevitable. If you want proof of that statement, just read the book of Acts. The bible says that we are in a war, and that we are to engage the enemy in battle. When Jesus says that the sons of God are “peacemakers”, He is not referring to being passive with sinners. He is not referring the non-confrontational, seeker sensitive, sloppy grace gospel message that is so popular in America. Instead, He is referring to those who would rather be wronged than to defend their rights. He is referring to those who intentionally overlook an offense against them, rather than give themselves over to pointless conflict and trifles. He is referring to those who follow His example of laying down His rights – even His life – so that the world could see the Father’s love.
APPLICATION:
Examine yourself in regards to how quick you are to defend yourself in trivial matters. Make Conscious effort to avoid worldly conflicts that would hinder others from receiving the gospel from you.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to be a peacemaker. Forgive me for being so quick to defend myself in pointless matters, and help me to not add any unnecessary offense to the Gospel. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
