VERSE:
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
— Matthew 5:10
THOUGHT:
Why was John the Baptist beheaded? Why was Jesus crucified? Why was Stephen stoned? Why was Paul persecuted? The answer: they stood for righteousness in a godless culture. How is it then, that we can live virtually undetected in our culture who’s mottos include “sex sells”, “cohabitation as an alternative lifestyle”, and “freedom of choice”? Where are the believers who are unafraid to call sin “sin”? Where are the believers who take a stand and say “enough is enough”? Sure there is a remnant of “activists”, but if the church isn’t unified in the battle against unrighteousness in our culture, we are fighting a losing battle.
APPLICATION:
Make some radical decisions to start standing for righteousness. Let the voice of God’s heart be heard through your mouth. Let it be known that you are one who lives by and stands for righteousness.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I choose this day not only to live righteously, but to also stand for righteousness. Give me boldness to let my mouth be a reflection of your heart in this society. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
