By faith Abraham, even though he was past age—and Sarah herself was barren—was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise.
— Hebrews 11:11
“By faith Abraham…was enabled…” Abraham’s faith is what brought the promise of God to pass. Imagine if Abraham did not believe God. He would have never received God’s promise, even though it was God’s established will. God has made His will known, and gives many wonderful promises in His word, but without faith His established will is useless in our lives and will not come to pass. Though some would say that the previous statement (that God’s will doesn’t always come to pass) is heresy, is this principle not true even for salvation? We can know God’s established will, but faith is what turns it into God’s manifest will.

Father, I pray for a believing heart. When I see the promises in your word that are for me, grant me the faith to receive them. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
