VERSE:
Joab said, “If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to rescue me; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will rescue you. Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight.”
— 1 Chronicles 19:12-13
THOUGHT:
God’s people Israel, in the context of this passage, were about to go into battle against the Ammonites who allied with the Arameans. Two great armies surrounded the Israelites on both sides. Joab, the commander of David’s army, had to split up his troops to fight off both enemies. This was not looking good for Israel; however Joab knew that God was on their side. He said “let us fight bravely… the Lord will do what is good in His sight”. He didn’t lie down and take a beating from the enemy. He fought in the power He had. He did everything he could in the natural, but still trusted in the Lord and left the results to Him. What do you think happened? Read the rest of the text and find out…
APPLICATION:
When all seems hopeless; when the enemy is attacking you from all sides; don’t lie down! Fight in the power you have. Trust in the God of this universe. Leave the results to Him, trusting that He will stay true to His word.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I come to you with thanksgiving because you are the horn of my salvation. When all seems hopeless, I will trust in you. When things get shaken, I will trust in you. I ask for the strength to persevere when the enemy tries to come in like a flood, and I leave the results to you. Thank you for your promises that I can stand on. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
