VERSE:
The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
— Genesis 12:1-3
THOUGHT:
Abram was promised a great blessing from God, but it required him to step out in faith in response to God’s call in order to receive it. At the time that God called him, Abram had just settled in Haran after traveling over 600 miles from Ur on foot with his entire family. Right as he was enjoying a time of rest after traveling for several months, God called him to pick up everything. He was to leave his family in order to live a life of uncertainty led by the direction of God.
APPLICATION:
Don’t let your comfortable position be a hindrance from following God’s call on your life. Be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading, understanding that He is not always going to lead you when you are ready, or when you have clarity. Often times God will call us out of our comfort, and out of certainty to receive His blessing.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, don’t let me ever get so comfortable in my position that I cannot discern your leading. Help me hear your voice, and respond in faith when I need to step out. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
