VERSE:
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
— Psalm 68:19
THOUGHT:
So many things in life can weigh us down: circumstances, troubles, worries, etc. They can all be summed up in one word – burdens. Everyone treats their burdens differently. Some people bottle them up until they explode in the form of rage. Other people hold in their burdens and act as if there is nothing wrong, yet inwardly they are wasting away. Still others wear their burdens on their sleeves in the form of depression, anger, anxiety or stress. All of these attempts to deal with burdens are insufficient to remove the real problem. Our shoulders were never meant to carry such heavy loads, and trying to do so is a form of pride. It’s like saying “God, I don’t need you. I can handle this on my own”.
APPLICATION:
Cast your burdens on the one who has shoulders strong enough to carry them. One day all of our tears will be wiped away; until then, cast your cares on the Lord.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, forgive me for trying to deal with these burdens in my own strength. I choose this moment to cast them all on you, because you care for me. I thank you for the freedom that’s mine in Christ Jesus, and I receive it by faith. I will walk in the victory of the Lord. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
