VERSE:
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
— Matthew 5:6
THOUGHT:
We all too often give ourselves the benefit of the doubt. We try to convince ourselves of having good intentions by saying things like “I really want to do the right thing, but I just can’t”. However, Jesus said that if we TRULY hungered and thirsted for righteousness, we would be filled (with righteousness). The fact of the matter is that whenever we miss the mark, it is because we really didn’t care to be righteous at that moment.
APPLICATION:
Quit making excuses for sin. Stop justifying your mess-ups by explaining why you messed up. Confess your sins as willful disobedience done out of a disregard for God’s standard, repent, and move on in the hunger and thirst for righteousness.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I hunger and I thirst for righteousness. Fill me, in Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
