VERSE:
Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with His command through Moses.
— Numbers 9:22-23:
THOUGHT:
It was God’s will, and God’s command to the Israelites to enter into the Promised Land; however the path that would get them there was to be led by God every day. If the cloud like fire rested over the tabernacle, they were to stay; when it lifted they were to move. They were to wait for the Spirit’s leading no matter how long it took. They could have easily said “something is wrong! We are supposed to be in the Promised Land and it’s taking too long” and they could have found some other way outside of God’s plan to accomplish His end result.
APPLICATION:
God may not be leading us in the form of a fiery cloud, but in any number of different ways. We are not only to know God’s will, but also follow His leading to accomplish that will. Understand God’s will for every situation through His word, and rely on His leading to carry it out.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I pray that through your word I would know your good and perfect will in every aspect of my life; even the seemingly small aspects. I pray for sensitivity to your Spirit’s leading to help me carry out that will, in Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
