VERSE:
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this IN ORDER THAT you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.
— Colossians 1:9-10
THOUGHT:
Growing in the knowledge of God is crucial to the Christian faith. However, knowledge is not merely supposed to be accumulated for intellectual purposes, but rather for God’s purposes. Knowledge without application is like buying a bus with no intentions of having any passengers. It is useless. Adding knowledge to our faith is the key to living a life worthy of the Lord, and being able to please Him, because growing in knowledge is supposed to bear fruit. Knowledge that does not transform, merely puffs up. (see 1 Corinthians 8:1)
APPLICATION:
Grow in your knowledge of God, and understand that it’s for a purpose. Allow the knowledge of God to transform you by going from your head to your heart, from your heart to your hands, and from your hands to the world.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the knowledge that you have blessed me with from your word and by your Spirit, and I also acknowledge the danger of letting that knowledge be stagnant in my intellect. Help me utilize the knowledge that you have given me for your purposes so that Christ would be exalted in the earth. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
