VERSE:
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
— Matthew 6:13
THOUGHT:
God does not lead us into temptation, but will allow us to be tested by them. Temptation to sin is inevitable, and Jesus reminds us who to turn to in the midst of it. God alone holds the keys to overpower the flesh, and we are to lean on Him so as not to be carried away by temptations. Our trust and commitment to God is often seen by how we handle temptation.
APPLICATION:
Be aware that temptation is inevitable. Understand that your tempters are the devil, the world and your own flesh… not God. While being tempted, take advantage of the opportunity to lean on God showing your trust in Him.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge my total dependence on you. I ask for your strength to resist the lures of the enemy. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
