VERSE:
I know, O Lord, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.
— Jeremiah 10:23
THOUGHT:
A quick glance of the world from a “bird’s-eye-view” would suffice to conclude that things are messed up. The way things are, are not the way they ought to be. Why is the world the way it is? The world is messed up because man was not designed to direct the path of his life. Man was created to submit to the direction of God. However, since Adam, we have been in a state of rebellion towards God’s direction and consequently most of us float along in life without even consulting Him. We make a mess out of life then ask God “why Lord?!”
APPLICATION:
Submit your life fully to the Lordship of Christ. Follow God’s direction through His word, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Think about those areas in your life that you have been holding on to, and release them to God.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, forgive me for trying to be the director of my life. I commit myself to your lordship, in Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
We evidence our theoretical "independence" by telling God what to do when we pray. IF we BELIEVE His will is perfect, how can we limit His will by telling God what to do for us?? Even Christ at Gethsemine prayed "Your will, not mine be done." You KNOW his human side did NOT like what was about to befall Him. He told God that. But He didn't tell His Father what to do. sHe raised His issues and SURENDERED to His Father! You can't be a believer Anand bosd God around at the same time!
