VERSE:
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
— James 3:1
THOUGHT:
It is a great honor and privilege to be one entrusted with the responsibility of teaching others about the mysteries of God. However, when given great responsibility you also face greater judgment. God’s treasure is people. Pure teaching refines God’s treasure; poor teaches corrupts God’s treasure. A teacher is one who has the task of refining people with pure teaching, but is also given the warning of being reprimanded more strictly for failing to do so.
APPLICATION:
Do not take lightly the task of teaching others about God, and respect those who do teach. If you are one who teaches, do so with fear and trembling knowing that you are either refining, or corrupting God’s treasure.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for giving me access to the revelation of your mysteries. I pray that whenever the opportunity rises for me to teach others about you, that I would do so with fear and trembling, so as to not misrepresent you. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
