Not under the law, but under grace

VERSE:
For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
— Romans 6:14

THOUGHT:
Most people think of grace as the big cover up that allows us to live in sin. When people want to justify their sins, we often hear clichés like “I’m not perfect, just forgiven” or “God’s not through with me yet” or more famous yet “I’m not under the law, I’m under grace”. Though these statements are true, if they are taken out of their proper context they can be very dangerous.

God’s grace isn’t a license to sin, but rather power to come out from the slave market of sin. God’s grace destroys sin’s rule over us, freeing us to live for righteousness.

APPLICATION:
Walk in the power and victory of God’s grace over sin in your life. When temptations come, remind yourself of your freedom from sin’s mastery over your life, and walk in the fullness of God’s grace.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for buying me out of the slave market of sin. Thank you for the power of your grace which enables me to rise above and resist all sin in my life. I pray that you help me walk in the fullness of your grace, in Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
