VERSE:
Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.
— Psalm 119:97
THOUGHT:
A lot of professing Christians talk about how they love God, yet when someone brings a word of correction to them concerning God’s law, they think that they are being legalistic. They think that coming under obedience to the law is coming under bondage; however nothing could be further from the truth. God’s law is a law of liberty that frees us from the bondage of sin. God’s law is a reflection of His character; the character which we are being shaped into. It is impossible for someone to love God, yet despise His law. Are God’s laws delightful or burdensome to you? Do you see words like: obedience, holiness, submission, and righteousness as words that bring comfort, or do they take your joy?
APPLICATION:
Read God’s word understanding that His laws are good and pleasing. Don’t mistake obedience for bondage. Don’t mistake Christ’s Lordship for drudgery. Love God’s law, and meditate on it all day long.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father I thank you for your law. I love your law, and meditate on it all day long. I thank you for freeing me from the bondage of sin into the liberty of grace. I pray that your law would be a reflection of my life every day. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
