Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.
— Hebrews 6:7-8
The land, in this metaphor, represents 2 different types of people. The first person drinks in the word of God, and produces fruit that is meant to benefit other people. The second person drinks in the word, and only produces “thorns and thistles”. This land is worthless, and leaves a mess behind for the farmers to clean up.
What type of land are you? Are you producing fruit that benefits other members of the body, or are you producing thorns and thistles?
Drink in the word if God, and know that it is for a purpose (to benefit others). Make every effort to benefit those around you with what God has blessed you with.
Heavenly Father, I pray that I could drink deep of your word, and the fruit produced out of it would benefit those around me. If there be any thorns or thistles that I have produced, reveal them to me so that I can dig them out. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
