Quit Being Mulish

Spread the love

VERSE:
I [The Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.
—Psalm 32:8-9

THOUGHT:
Sometimes we can get so frustrated when we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We don’t know what decision to make about a certain issue, and wish that God would just give us a sign in the heavens so that we would know without a shadow of a doubt what we need to do. That’s not faith. God equates that to being “mulish”, having no understanding. We are not God’s mules, we are His sheep. Mules are driven, sheep follow. God wants us to rely on His leading and His instruction, and the only way to get true clarity of His leading and instruction is through His word and by His Spirit.

APPLICATION:
Submerse yourself in the word, praying and trusting that God will lead you where you need to go. God usually speaks first through His word; anything beyond His word will agree with it. When He gives you clarity through the word, and peace through the Spirit, follow His leading.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I choose this moment not to rely on the arm of the flesh but to rely on you. I pray and trust that you will give me clarity through your word, and peace by Your Spirit in any decision I have to make. I fully trust in your instruction and your counsel; and I thank you for watching over me. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
