VERSE:
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him
— 1 John 2:27
THOUGHT:
Sometimes the best teacher can be yourself, when you align yourself with the anointing that is in you. You don’t need a priest to interpret the scriptures for you if you have the Spirit of the living God inside you. We do, however, need to take caution as we can sometimes mistake counterfeit anointing with real anointing. Make sure that your conclusions glorify Jesus and are in agreement with the scriptures.
APPLICATION:
When you have a tough question that you need an answer for, rather than being so quick to seek the counsel of men, seek the counsel of the spirit inside of you. Search the scriptures and ask God to reveal the answer.
DISCLAIMER – this is not to demean or belittle the God ordained role of teachers in the body of Christ, but rather to encourage a greater dependency on the Holy Spirit than on teachings of men. Teachers are useful and necessary gifts given to the church (Ephesians 4).
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank you that the anointing that I have received from you remains in me, and teaches me all things. I thank you that the anointing is real, and not counterfeit. Help me learn from you, and develop a greater dependency on you. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
