VERSE:
All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.
— Proverbs 21:2
THOUGHT:
When is the last time you purposely did something out of a wrong heart and with wrong motives? If you are like most of us, you do things assuming that you are doing them with the right motives. We tend to act (or react) without giving much thought as to why we act or react in that way. When we do ask ourselves “why?” we talk ourselves into thinking that we are justified, compassionate and loving for doing it; however God really knows.
APPLICATION:
Align yourself with the Holy Spirit so that your actions would be rooted in the Father’s heart. Don’t just assume that you are doing things for the right reason. Before acting or reacting in a certain way, or doing a certain thing, ask yourself “why am I doing this”. Compare your answer to the Word of God, and let the Spirit of God confirm it in your heart.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, test my heart and see if there is any wicked way in me. I pray that if there are any prideful, carnal, or wicked motives behind any of my actions that you would expose them to me, and by your grace help me turn from them. I want to do things with the right motives. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
