VERSE:
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
— Proverbs 21:5
THOUGHT:
A lot of times as humans, we want to see “A+” results with “C-“effort, but that’s not how God has established things. When God created Adam in His likeness, He created him with His characteristics; one of them being diligence. The dictionary definition of the word ‘diligence’ is: the constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken. When Adam fell, He traded God’s likeness for a sinful nature, which turned diligence into a 4 letter word for us. Seeing something through to the end is God’s original design, and needs to be our number one goal.
APPLICATION:
Seek out God’s desires and plans for your life in the here and now. When you set your heart to doing something, see it through with constant and earnest effort.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for accomplishing salvation with diligence. I pray that I can model after your actions by accomplishing my plans with same diligence you displayed on the cross, and I thank you for the promise that in so doing it would lead to profit. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
