VERSE:
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
—Deuteronomy 29:29
THOUGHT:
Intense study and seeking out the answers to deep philosophical and theological questions are great ways for us to grow in our knowledge of who God is. However, we have the temptation of getting so cerebral that our questioning and seeking does not become transformational. The fact is some things God has not revealed, and He has not revealed them because they are not as important as we would like to think they are. Life isn’t about having all of our questions answered. We should rather learn to live life with unanswered questions. Today’s verse explains how “the things revealed belong to us… that we may follow”.
APPLICATION:
Don’t get caught up in philosophical pondering about deep questions that God has not plainly revealed in His word. Instead focus on that which God has revealed and conform your life to submission and obedience to His revealed will.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your revealed will. I pray that as I seek out the depth of who you are, you would protect me from becoming so cerebral that I miss out on being transformed. When I study what you have revealed, help me conform my life to submission and obedience. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
