VERSE:
He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

THOUGHT:
The mentality of most Americans says “I want everything, so long as it costs me nothing”. We say that we want revival, in the church, but don’t want it bad enough to live holy or travail in intercessory prayer. We say we want to see our lost friends and family converted, but not bad enough to share our faith. We say that we want to see a turn in the moral decline of our society, yet we partake of societies pleasures. Something has to give. If we want to return with songs of joy, we need to go out weeping, carrying the seed of God’s word to sow.

APPLICATION:
Meditate on the current state of our society compared to God’s ideal. Ask God to give you His perspective through prayer and meditation on His word. Give yourself to tears and brokenness over how far the American church has fallen short of fulfilling our mandate of being salt and light to the world; and think about what needs to be done in order to reach God’s desired end. After all of the above is said and done, MOVE TO ACTION!

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, give me your eyes to see things in the right perspective. Help me see clearly what needs to be done. Give me a heart that breaks over the things that breaks your heart. Fill me with compassion so that I would go out weeping, carrying seed to sow in my society, trusting that I would return with songs of joy. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
