“Your Kingdom Come”

Spread the love

VERSE:
Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
— Matthew 6:10

THOUGHT:
Maranatha! This Aramaic word which means “our Lord come” is the Christian’s purpose for living. It is to be our longing and desire to see the Kingdom of God come to earth; spiritually now and literally in the end. A lot of people say “yes and amen” when talking about God’s kingdom coming in power, but a lot of times the focus is on seeing miracles and having their flesh satisfied. When God’s kingdom comes in power spiritually, people are healed and delivered; but we also need to remember that sin is judged and dealt with. When God’s kingdom comes in power literally, His people will be redeemed from this world and brought into eternal glory; but we also need to remember that majority of the world will be judged and condemned to everlasting fire.

APPLICATION:
When praying “maranatha”, understand the purpose and the outcome. Align yourself with God so that when you pray for His kingdom to come, it is so that Christ would be glorified rather than your flesh to be satisfied. Try to live life with the recognition that Christ is returning to literally establish His kingdom on earth, and we are to pave the way for His coming.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I pray that as I draw closer to you my heart would become more pure and my intentions would be truer. Help me to live life with the recognition of my purpose to pave the way for your return. Let your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
