VERSE:
Though the Lord is on high, He looks upon the lowly, but the proud He knows from afar.
— Psalm 138:6
THOUGHT:
We live in a church culture with many people who profess that they’re Christians, yet they refuse to humble themselves before the Lordship of Christ. They will usually say something like “I have my own personal relationship with God”. That’s true – EVERYONE has their “own personal relationship with God”. That’s not the question. The question is, “is it a GOOD relationship?” Satan even has his own relationship with God; it’s just not a very good one.
Though the Lord is on high, He looks upon the lowly (those who humble themselves before His Lordship), but the proud (those who would rather have “their own personal relationship with God” outside of what the bible demands) God knows from afar.
APPLICATION:
Don’t be someone that God knows from afar. Draw close to Him through humble acceptance of Christ’s Lordship over your life. When Christ is your Lord (meaning the supreme authority of your life / whatever He says goes), your proximity to Him is closer.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I don’t want you to know me from afar; I want to draw close to you. I humble myself before you as my Lord, and trust that in so doing my proximity to you would be closer. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!
